Listen // Jonsi "Go"

Photobucket

Sigur Ros frontman, Jonsi, gives Soundcheck a preview of his upcoming solo debut album, Go.

The Icelandic musician whose falsetto sounds often resemble that of crying whales, in a good way, proves to Soundcheck staff that, he too, has an affinity for mics, an often overlooked component in music making.

McQueen Remembered

Alexander McQueen Dead

Photobucket

Very rarely do I feel inclined to post about deaths. However, this has come as such a shock, it would be irrational not to write about the death of a truly iconic person, designer Alexander McQueen.

Sadly, McQueen was found in his London home after he took his own life, only days after the death of his mother.

Part of the hopes that I had as a long-term future goal was to one day interview McQueen.

For the rest of today, Platform will post some of the most influential and inspirational works the beloved designer created.

The Auction of All Auctions // 20 Years of Maison Martin Margiela: The Marcia Berger Collection

Photobucket

Many times, I've gone to museums and galleries feeling struck by good artwork. I've thought to myself, "if only I could wear this piece as an article of clothing...". That said, I've always felt that prolific and iconoclastic designer Maison Martin Margiela deserves recognition as a highly regarded artist in the world of fashion. And now, you too, can wear a little piece of art home.

Resurrection's 20 Years of Maison Martin Margiela will be on view at One Jackson Square displaying more than 1,000 pieces that will go up for auction, including some 40 one-of-a-kind artisanal works. Dreams do come true.

Design // Park Avenue South by Studio Octopi

Photobucket

The house, not to be confused with the ritzy East Coast neighborhood, is an angular house extension located on a triangular plot designed by UK architecture firm, Studio Octopi.

"From a distance, the structure reads as a strong geometric form that has grown out from the back of the house, but at closer quarters, its edges appear to soften and the malleability of the zinc and the very slight billows in its surface come into focus."
